The past year has increased consumer and business appetite for electric vehicles like never before. With the increase in gas prices, ever-increasing awareness of the savings of EVs and benefits, and new federal funding to build out charging infrastructure and purchase EVs – both for consumers and fleets – EV adoption in NC should be certain. However, there still remain barriers to greater EV adoption that is specific to North Carolina: the prohibition for manufacturers to sell EVs direct to consumers and businesses.
